Introduction to applications in electrical work

  • Electricians design, install and maintain wiring systems in construction projects. They direct the placement of lighting fixtures, circuit breakers and electrical control systems.

  • Electricians install and maintain all of the electrical and power systems for our homes, businesses, and factories.

  • Install and maintain the wiring and control equipment through which electricity flows. They also install and maintain electrical equipment and machines in factories and a wide range of other businesses.

Introduction to applications in plumbing

  • Plumbers follow blueprints to map and install pipes in construction projects.

  • Workers in this job are responsible for drainage fixtures, toilets, sinks and pipes for air, water and other liquids.

  • Plumbers install and repair water supply lines, waste disposal systems, and related appliances and fixtures to keep homes and businesses flowing smoothly.

  • Plumbers install and repair pipes that supply water and gas to, as well as carry waste away from, homes and businesses. They also install plumbing fixtures such as bathtubs, sinks, and toilets, and appliances, including dishwashers and washing machines.

Introduction to applications in construction

  • Cleans and prepares construction sites by removing debris and possible hazards

  • Loads or unloads building materials to be used in construction

  • Builds or takes apart bracing, barricades, forms (molds that determine the shape of concrete), scaffolding, and temporary structures

  • Digs trenches, backfills holes, or compacts earth to prepare for construction

  • Operates or tends equipment and machines used in construction, such as concrete mixers

  • Helps other craft workers with their duties

Introduction to warehouse logistics, forklift, pallet jack, cherry picker and OSHA safety practices

  • Perform an array of functions that may include receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing and retrieving stock in the warehouse.

  • Assist shipping and receiving unloading trucks and checking in merchandise

  • Prepares orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in delivery area

  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standards

  • Open bales, crates and other containers

  • Maintains inventory controls by collecting stock location orders, printing request, recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed through a computer. May also assist in counting of physical inventory

  • Prepare parcels for mailing

  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat, Sweep, dust and mop. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times

  • Wear the proper safety equipment
